Uses critical, rhetorical, and qualitative methods to examine communication artifacts across media that are by and for non-dominant group members to question the creation, transformation, and maintenance of identities in society by centering traditionally marginalized groups. Recent work has focused largely on media effects and perceptions around romance novels along with developing new methods for genre critique and analysis that stem from locating cultural exigences to account for culture and power in textual production and consumption.
